This happened some time ago, but I’m finally sharing my experience after realizing I wasn’t going to get anywhere trying to resolve it. I attended a nonprofit event at The Empire Room in Dallas, where valet services were provided as part of the event experience. I trusted that the vendors operating on-site were vetted and held to a certain standard. My Tesla was left unlocked by the valet staff, and my Louis Vuitton purse was stolen from inside. Tesla data confirmed the vehicle was never locked after it was handed off. There also did not appear to be any active monitoring of the parked vehicles during the event. This comes down to basic training and competency. Properly securing a vehicle is the most fundamental responsibility of a valet service, and it raises concerns when a vendor operating at a venue fails at that level. What was most disappointing was the lack of accountability. Despite clear data, there was no ownership of the situation or meaningful follow-through. As a venue that partners with and presents these services to guests, there should be a higher level of oversight and responsibility for the vendors on-site. At a certain point, I chose to stop spending my time trying to resolve it. If you are hosting or attending an event here, I would strongly recommend confirming what security measures and vendor standards are actually in place.
