Carlowrie Castle

I was going to leave a one-star review, but I've decided on five stars instead. One unfortunate experience shouldn't define an entire business, and I genuinely don't want my experience to negatively impact what is otherwise a beautiful venue. That said, I do hope this feedback is taken seriously. On 31 July, I arrived with my service user, who is a wheelchair user and was in genuine distress, desperately needing to use the toilet. We politely asked if he could use the facilities. The answer was a firm "No." There wasn't an event taking place, we weren't asking for a tour of the castle, afternoon tea, or the royal suite. We simply needed a toilet and would have been gone in less than five minutes. What disappointed me most wasn't the refusal itself, but the complete lack of empathy. "Policy" was given as the reason, and I find it difficult to believe that any policy would be so inflexible that it cannot make an exception for a disabled person in obvious distress. Policies are meant to guide good decisions, not replace basic human compassion. Carlowrie Castle appears to be a wonderful place, and I'm sure you provide an excellent experience for your guests. However, on this occasion, I believe you failed badly. Kindness and empathy cost nothing, yet they are often remembered long after beautiful buildings and impressive grounds. I sincerely hope this is something you reflect on, because the next person who comes to your door in desperation deserves a more compassionate response than we received.

A dedicated wedding venue with a small number of rooms. Beautiful castle set in lovely grounds. Dropped a star as waited far too long from Canapés to main meal .

Excellent venue, lovely grounds. Staff were nice and helpful. Room was comfortable, well appointed. The only tiny gripe would be that the shower could do with better maintenance - the shower holder was broken.

I could not recommend or love Carlowrie castle more if I tried. The most special venue and despite how many weddings they’ve held, you still feel like the first person to ever get married there. All the staff there couldn’t be nicer and were all so helpful on our day, special mention to Ailsa & Ronin. I can’t wait to hopefully visit again as a guest!

Carlowrie Castle is an absolutely stunning venue, combining the character and elegance of a traditional Scottish castle with just the right touch of modern luxury. From the moment we viewed it, we knew it was the perfect setting for Christie and Sean's wedding. What really sets Carlowrie apart is its people. Every member of staff was exceptional. The food was phenomenal, the service was seamless, and every detail was taken care of with warmth and professionalism. The staff were always there when you needed them, yet never intrusive, allowing everyone to simply relax and enjoy the day. We also booked all of the on-site accommodation, including the rooms within the castle, the Coach House and the Gate Lodge. Every one of them was beautifully presented, exceptionally comfortable and maintained to the same incredibly high standard as the venue itself. It's clear that there is a wonderful culture at Carlowrie, where every member of the team genuinely cares about delivering an exceptional experience. That doesn't happen by accident, and it's a real credit to everyone involved in creating such a welcoming and professional environment. Everything ran like clockwork, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue or a more dedicated team. Thank you for making such a special day even more memorable.
