Blairquhan Castle

We knew this was our wedding venue the moment we stepped through the entryway—it was bright, airy, historic, and luxurious. We had been looking for a well-preserved estate with beautifully renovated bedrooms and bathrooms, and this castle exceeded every expectation. The grounds are stunning, the interiors are elegant, and the entire property feels both grand and intimate. We filled all 15 bedrooms with friends and family for two nights, and from the moment we arrived, everyone was so well looked after—from the afternoon tea they helped us arrange for guests at arrival to the hot buffet dinner that evening, followed by a full Scottish breakfast both mornings. While we didn’t end up using all of the available accommodations, there are also eight additional cottages on the grounds, ranging from one to four bedrooms, which would make it easy to host a much larger group. We used the four-bedroom cottage in the Stables, right next to the castle, for our photo and video team, and it worked perfectly, giving them unlimited access to the property for beautiful photography and drone footage throughout the two days. The staff were exceptional from start to finish—warm, professional, and genuinely enjoyable to work with. The team was incredibly helpful in guiding logistics while also being open to our vision. The catering was outstanding, and they were wonderful about accommodating dietary restrictions. They also brought such a fun, personal energy to the day—even teaching our group ceilidh dancing and getting everyone who was still up and dancing involved, including themselves. What made this venue especially unique is that it is not a hotel. When you hire the estate, it truly feels like your own private castle for the celebration. Everything felt fresh, beautifully cared for, and exclusive in a way that traditional venues rarely do. It was the perfect setting for our wedding, and we couldn’t have imagined a more magical place to celebrate.

We had a wonderful stay in this wee cottage on the grounds of a castle. The cottage itself was cosy, spotless, and very comfortable, with lovely facilities and everything we needed for the weekend. The grounds were beautifully maintained and made the whole setting feel peaceful and special. A perfect place to relax, and we’d happily stay again.

Stayed here for my brother in laws wedding. Was absolutely spectacular and the staff was amazing.
