Marlins Wynd

Great hidden gem. Full of history.

Attended a corporate event at marlins wynd during January. It is a very quirky venue steeped in Edinburgh history with some parts of the establishment nearly five hundred years old. The food we received whilst there was of a very high standard and the staff were very attentive to our needs. The one downside is the is no alcohol on draft so it's all cans and bottles. If you can look past this you will have a great time at marlins wind

We initially viewed Marlins Wynd last November and immediately fell in love with it. The size of the venue was exactly right for the numbers we were having for our wedding day. Also, the history and the energy of the place just felt right to us. So, we chose to hold our ceremony here as well as having our meal and evening boogie. The company, Unusual Venues, were very flexible with our decision of having an informal buffet and we were spoiled for choice from the menus offered. EVERYONE thought the food was fulsome and of excellent quality. We couldn't eat all of it!! Dylan and Caroline were a great help in negotiating the entire process and were always right there if we needed to ask anything. Their customer service is excellent and they always made us feel like we their number one priority. On the day, we were so well looked after by Dylan initially and then after he handed over to Chelsey, she couldn't have been more helpful. The highest standard of care and service that one would usually expect from a 5 Star/high end hotel. Truly excellent! Ours was a unique, bespoke wedding and they met us at every single stage with a wonderfully flexible approach. The whole experience was beyond all our expectations and we couldn't have asked for more. Everyone who attended, commented how amazing our wedding was and it wouldn't have been that way without the help and input of Dylan, Caroline & Chesley. 10's 10's 10's across the board!!!

We were extremely disappointed with Marlin's Wynd after our wedding in September 2025. Despite providing a detailed list of our guests’ allergies and dietary requirements as requested before the event, this information was only applied to the dinner service and not the canapés. The canapés were served with nuts, causing one of our guests, who has a severe nut allergy and was clearly listed to have an allergic reaction. What made the situation worse was the venue director’s response. Instead of acknowledging or apologising for their clear oversight, they blamed the guest for not checking the food and even implied that another guest must have given it to them without checking first. This was deeply upsetting and completely unacceptable. Allergies are life-threatening and should be treated with the utmost care. We trusted this venue to take that responsibility seriously, but they failed us badly. We are appalled not just by their negligence but by their lack of accountability and empathy. It is inexcusable, and we sincerely hope they review their procedures so that no other couple or guest experiences something like this again.

Lovely bar, was there for a private event. Drinks quite expensive, but as expected.
