Mata Hari House

From the very first idea to execution, I worked for 6 months on my husband’s 60th birthday party. It became my focus to plan and gift him a memory he would never forget. The staff at Mata Hari House understood from the start the significance of the project and stepped up to the plate in every aspect. The venue itself was something I only had imagined but didn’t know it existed. The moment I started the tour, I just knew this space had the right vibe and bones to become the frame for what I wanted to build. Conveniently located in the Design District, guests could easily access from any part of Dallas. It sits in an industrial-like yet artist-heavy area that immediately sets a tone of coolness which sparked my creativity even more. The space itself is modern and has enough personality yet it is a blank canvas adaptable to almost any direction you would like to take. All major conveniences gave me a chance to breathe easy and focused on developing an event that my guests would be impressed with. Their design packages allowed me adjust my needs as my vision became more focused and as I refined the major moving parts of the event. But a space is just that. Ultimately, the Mata Hari House team is the soul that brought my vision to life. Responsible, competent and highly personable is what comes to mind when I think of the staff working with me side by side. Always willing to consider and solve any challenges and adjustments I faced as the months went by. As the date neared, their involvement became more crucial and their expertise more on point. Having little experience in planning an event of this magnitude, it was very comforting to count on a team of consultants that were patient and accommodating. On the day of the event, I walked into a space that I had only sketched on paper yet the team had given dimension and heart as if they knew what I had dreamed of. Because they did! It has to be stated that Collette, as the event coordinator and main point of contact has a special gift that is evident in how she managed every hour of the event. As I naturally let go of any control and started enjoying my time at the party, Collette delicately nudged me, advised me and kept me on track to ensure we could complete the script we had worked on for so long and so hard. It takes a special skill to control a situation yet feel like the lightest, non-intrusive presence. I could always look up and see Collette and her staff blending seamlessly into the crowd yet I knew they had everything under control with just a quick reassuring look and wink. What a special gift! That quality cannot be faked and after all is said and done, ranks as the highest asset I could have asked for that evening. The memories that we built that evening will never leave me. Nice enough spot for a small wedding venue, but need better air conditioning. Wedding guests all sweated for hours.

I had my wedding and reception at Mata Hari house this weekend. As a very type B bride, the owners and staff really stepped up. Colette was a godsend. Her eye for detail, artistic sense of style for the venue was honestly a highlight. She even arranged the flowers and decorated the venue. Saved me so much money. Being able to enjoy my wedding without keeping track of vendors or the guests needs was the best. I do not feel I would have received that service from any other venue I toured. The venue is a wonderfully intimate and cool place. The vendors she recommended were amazing. Everyone commented on how perfect the night was and how amazing the venue looked. I’m hoping in the next 5 to 10 years Collette is still around with this wonderful venue and I can celebrate my wedding anniversary in style.

If you’re having a smaller wedding ( I think 80 is the limit, I’m sure Collette could confirm) This is the best possible place that you could have your wedding. In the design district of Dallas, safe surroundings, and easy access to the major freeways. Collette was the MVP of our wedding. Look no further than Mata Hari house. Our wedding was beautiful, and the venue and Collette were a major part of that. Everything went smooth and numerous guests complimented the venue and said this was one of the best weddings they’ve been to. Overall, I am astonished at the value and what Collette and Mata Hari house bring to the table.

My husband and I celebrated our reception at Mata Hari and it was spectacular! Our wedding weekend was made SO special by the incredible talents of the amazing women at this establishment! Collette + Jessa are so kind and easy to work with!!! They stayed in communication with us from the day we booked, even up through after the wedding. They both made it such a seamless and fun process to plan with them and we are so grateful for you both + your team!!! I planned + designed our wedding and they helped bring all our dreams to life 🤍 it was truly a special moment that we’ll never forget!
